Individual Therapy for Adults

I believe in creating a warm, safe, and comfortable environment that allows people to express themselves openly and without fear of judgment, knowing that I am listening carefully and attentively. I have worked with a variety of adult clients, such as individuals with depression, anxiety, marital and relationship problems, substance abuse disorders, eating disorders, and personality disorders. I use multiple forms of psychotherapy depending on the unique needs of each person and have received extensive training in psychodynamic therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing, among others.

At the beginning of therapy, we establish goals for treatment and continuously work to achieve those goals. I believe that therapy works in two major ways: 1) Insight and 2) Skill Building. I assess all of my clients individually and collaborate closely with them to ensure that they receive the best tailored treatment that is most likely to create improvement in their lives.

Individual Therapy for Adolescents

I have unique experience working with adolescents. I understand that many teenage clients may not wish to be in therapy, so I strive to create a comfortable, nonjudgmental, and understanding attitude in sessions. The pressures of school, including academic and social challenges, can create confusing experiences and feelings for adolescents, and I understand the obstacles, barriers, and challenges they face. I work to help these clients understand themselves better, find ways to feel more at ease within themselves, and build more fulfilling relationships. In addition, teenagers often experience shifting attitudes and feelings related to relationships, sexuality and gender roles. With my specialized knowledge and experience working with issues related to sexuality, sexual orientation and relationships, I am especially prepared to explore these types of issues in therapy, and to help my teenage clients grow in positive ways. I work with issues such as social anxiety, depression, academic difficulties, and problems in the home, and would look forward to helping teenage clients improve their lives.

Individual Therapy for Children

I work with children as young as eight, which normally requires close collaboration with the client’s family members. I use play therapy and behavioral therapy techniques to understand children’s feelings, wishes, and needs, as well as the ways in which they relate to others. By establishing a trusting, supportive, and encouraging relationship with children, their parents and other family members, we work together to tackle the problematic issues. I work with children with behavioral problems, ADHD, and emotional difficulties using the techniques described above. Through this work, children’s behavior and emotional lives often improve, and it becomes possible for family relationships to improve; where love, understanding, and emotional intimacy are heightened and enhanced. I work my hardest to be a facilitator and guide that leads children and their families to find stability, love, and joy together.
