I view problems in families as stemming from numerous sources. I take a nonjudgmental approach and aim to understand how each individual plays a unique role in the family. I generally work from a family systems perspective, which means that I help family members identify the feelings, beliefs, and behaviors that lead to negative feedback loops which sustain dysfunctional ways of relating and acting with one another. Once these patterns are identified, I provide guidance, insights, and suggestions on how to change these patterns in order for each member of the family, and the family as a whole, to function as a more cohesive, loving, and understanding unit.
